October 24, 2008
The Northern Colorado Economic Development Corp. on Wednesday at its annual meeting honored Colorado State University with several awards for contributions to the region's economic development and prosperity.
Regional Collaboration Award
The organization honored CSU and its partners - Aims Community College, Front Range Community College and the University of Northern Colorado - with the Regional Collaboration Award for collaborating on a joint venture to more effectively and efficiently develop and train the region's workforce for today's global economy.
Accepting the award for CSU at the event was Lou Swanson, vice provost for Outreach and Strategic Partnerships.
Global Impact Award
NCEDC also honored Professor Bryan Willson, director of the Colorado State University Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory and director of the Clean Energy Supercluster, with its Global Impact Award. In September, the Crown Princes of Denmark and Spain recognized the laboratory with the 2008 Royal Award for Sustainable Technology Transfer for clean tech innovations in three different areas: an international clean cookstove project, two-stroke engine conversion kit and the next generation of biofuels production from algae.
Accepting the award for CSU at Wednesday's NCEDC event was Morgan DeFoort, associate director of the laboratory.
