CSU conducting commuter survey in September
Faculty, staff and students are invited to take a quick online survey to determine how commuters travel to campus.
September 11, 2008
Colorado State University's Department of Facilities Management on Thursday posted a quick online survey for faculty, staff and students to determine how commuters travel to campus.
Plan to make CSU carbon-neutral by 2020
The commuter survey is a key piece of President Larry Edward Penley's pledge to the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment, which requires that the university account for greenhouse gas emissions related to commuting. The survey is part of Penley's overall plan to make the university carbon-neutral by 2020 - a goal he announced Thursday in his annual Fall Address.
Trips per day, mode of transportation
Questions cover trips per day, mode of transportation and fuel efficiency for calendar year 2008. Participants must have a campus electronic identity or eID to take the survey at https://www.fm.colostate.edu/survey.
The survey takes two minutes, said Patrice Stafford, facilities program assistant.
Greenhouse gas inventory
"This commuter survey will end up being a big part of measuring our carbon footprint for a greenhouse gas inventory we will be completing this fall," said Stafford, who has worked with a team to complete this project. "Mostly we just want to know how people commute."
Drawing for prizes
People who complete the survey by Sept. 25 are eligible for a drawing for prizes. The grand prize is a 22-inch Toshiba LCD flat screen HDTV with a built-in DVD player that has been donated by the CSU Bookstore. Other prizes include:
