Infectious Disease Supercluster - Request for Proposals

March 10, 2008

Request for Infectious Disease Supercluster Proposals

     * Infectious Diseases Research Proposals

     * Capacity Building and Activities Proposals

The CSU Infectious Disease Supercluster, or IDSC, has released two requests for proposals to fund projects to develop and enhance Infectious Disease, or ID, research, capacity and activities at CSU.  Information on the IDSC, its mission and goals are available on the IDSC website:

Infectious diseases research proposals are requested to develop novel vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics and other potential products to combat infectious diseases of humans, animals, and plants. Special consideration will be given this year to translational research proposals which create intellectual property, demonstrate clinical utility and will increase product development opportunities. Innovative, multidisciplinary proposals, which will bridge departments and colleges, are also encouraged.

ID Capacity Building and Activities proposals are for one time requests with relatively modest budgets.  The successful proposal will typically be multidisciplinary, will address specific needs and opportunities of the respective clusters (eg: meetings, retreats, speakers, small equipment, etc), will build ID SC capacity, and will promote program enhancement and coherence.

Submission of proposals in response to the RFAs is open to CSU faculty and employees and their collaborators.  Proposals must be submitted by April 15, 2008, 5:00 p.m.  Anticipated start date for successful proposals is July 1, 2008.
