Lives of beauty and practicality
When Larimer County Home Demonstration Agent Lydia Warren wrote this in her Annual Report of 1923, she inadvertently captured the spirit that motivated many generations of rural Colorado women to infuse their lives with beauty as well as practicality.
Colo. farm women took pride in fruits of their labor
Farm women were taught to take pride in the fruits of their labor, whether humble or ornate, for the simple fact that whatever they produced came from their own hands and hearts.
Honoring the rural way of life
At Christmas, these same ladies were encouraged to use their ingenuity to fashion handmade objects that were thrifty, pragmatic, and attractive to give to their friends and family. The items on exhibit are reminiscent of country Christmases past, of Christmas gift contests, and homemade presents that honor the rural way of life.

The exhibit is located in Archives and Special Collections, Room 202 of Morgan Library and open to the public. Items will be on display 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, through Jan. 3, 2008.
